Kashi Yatra Packing List for Senior Citizens and Families
Pack for walking, crowds, changing weather and temple security without carrying half your home into Banaras.
Kashi involves more walking, waiting and narrow-lane movement than many first-time visitors expect. The right packing strategy is not “bring everything.” It is “carry very little during darshan and keep the backup supplies at your room.”
Keep these in your main luggage
- Regular medicines plus a written prescription or medicine list.
- Comfortable, already-broken-in footwear for non-temple walking.
- Light layers suited to the season and one simple rain layer during monsoon.
- Copies of identity documents and booking confirmation.
- Oral rehydration supplies and familiar snacks for medical needs.
Carry as little as possible during darshan
Temple security rules can change. Before leaving, ask the accommodation manager what visitors are currently allowed to carry and verify important notices through the official temple website. Avoid expensive jewellery and unnecessary electronics.
For elderly parents
- Write an emergency contact card and keep it in an accessible pocket.
- Schedule medicine, meals and rest before planning attractions.
- Ask about stairs, washroom access and the final walking route before booking.
- Use a fixed meeting point and avoid separating in the busiest lanes.
Before you lock the room
Photograph the property name, address and official phone number. Confirm the route back with the manager. That single habit is more useful than carrying extra travel gadgets through the old city.
